Emily C. Rake
An attention to detail and a commitment to clients’ needs are hallmarks of Emily C. Rake’s practice at Kell, Alterman & Runstein, L.L.P. Emily helps clients achieve their goals and comply with complex hazardous waste and water quality regulations. She advises clients in matters involving the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and the Clean Water Act (CWA). In her business practice, Emily provides corporate clients practical guidance on closely-held business formation, including partnerships, limited liability companies, S corporations and C corporations. She is particularly adept at structuring business transactions and at assessing corporate compliance.
Emily graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School with a Certificate in Natural Resources and Environmental Law. While in law school, Emily edited articles for the Lewis & Clark Law Review and researched private equity placements for a business law professor. As Head Law Clerk at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon, she assisted in RCRA and CWA enforcement actions.
Prior to law school, Emily received a 2005 Thomas J. Watson Fellowship to research indigenous grassroots strategies for social change in Guatemala, Bolivia, and Chile. Emily also interned with U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, conducting legislative research and responding to constituent concerns. The diverse perspectives and problem-solving approaches Emily learned now enable her to help clients accomplish their objectives.
