Matt Goldberg
Matt Goldberg's practice focuses on bankruptcy, civil litigation, taxation, real estate, and business law. He is a former extern to the Honorable Elizabeth J. Perris of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Oregon.
Matt has significant experience representing trustees, debtors, and creditors in a broad spectrum of bankruptcy matters, including consumer and business cases as well as complex litigation in bankruptcy court. Matt's nonbankruptcy litigation experience includes successful representations of clients ranging from Fortune 500 and other large companies to smaller businesses and individuals concerning a wide range of legal issues. Matt counsels taxpayers with respect to collection due process issues and substantive tax issues, and represents clients on a variety of real estate- and business-related matters.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Matt, who hails originally from New York, spent 5 years doing business and strategic development for numerous first-generation Internet companies. In New York, Matt also worked as a writer and editor, his work having appeared in a variety of nationally distributed newspapers and magazines, including The Village Voice and Fast Company. It comes as no surprise, then, that Matt frequently writes on various legal topics, including contributions to bar publications and treatises. Matt is a former Associate Editor and editorial board member of the American Bar Association's Litigation News and has spoken at numerous CLEs and other legal seminars.
Matt is a member of the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar's Debtor-Creditor Section as well as a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and the Taxation Sections of the American Bar Association and the Oregon State Bar.
When Matt isn't working, he enjoys painting, drawing, playing music, and, most of all, spending time with his wife and two young daughters at their home in Lake Oswego.
