Nick Uren
Nick Uren focuses his practice on tax and business law, with an emphasis on international tax and cross-border business matters including mergers and acquisitions. He advises individuals and businesses on a broad range of domestic and cross-border tax issues, helping clients navigate complex regulatory requirements and make informed, strategic decisions.
Before joining the firm, Nick’s career included time at Big 4 and top 10 accounting firms, where he developed substantial experience in tax planning and compliance. His background in public accounting gives him a practical, business-oriented perspective and a strong understanding of the financial and operational considerations that inform effective tax strategy.
Nick's earlier work included advising Fortune 500 companies on large, complex transactions, and that experience now guides how he works with growth businesses and individuals on similar issues at a different scale. "I bring the tax planning that large multinational businesses use to small and medium-sized businesses," Nick says, "as well as to people as they do business and travel across borders."
At Kell, Alterman & Runstein, L.L.P., Nick works with clients on the tax side of mergers and acquisitions, tax planning, entity structuring, and transfer pricing for businesses and individuals with ties abroad. He works closely with clients and their advisors to identify risks, develop solutions, and implement strategies that align with their long-term objectives.
Nick earned his undergraduate degree in business from the University of Montana and both his J.D. and M.B.A. from Seattle University. When he's not working through the details of a cross-border transaction, he's likely outside camping, hiking, or skiing with his wife and sons.
